Indian Summer is Back

Indian summer refers to periods of unusually warm weather in October or November. Sometimes it’s said to be preceded by the first frost, but not necessarily. Here in Croatia it’s called bablje ljeto (roughly old women’s summer) or miholjsko ljeto (Michael’s summer, after the Feast of St. Michael or Michaelmas, September 29th). Apart from the stable airmass with sunny weather and hazy atmosphere, it’s also known for cobweb threads carried by the wind and in turn covering the ground. Like this:
